With the final hand being completed for the day, Day 1a of the Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon Main Event has come to an end with roughly 64 players remaining from the 188 starters.
It appears that China's Chao Li is the chip leader with over 100,000, while several others sit on his tail. Also amongst the survivors are Ivan Tan, Kim Gap Young, Will Cheong and Team PokerStars Pro Raymond Wu, although each of them will have some work to do on Day 2 if they are to mount a charge at Li's chip lead.

9:25 p.m: Wu sends one packing
On the final hand for his table, Raymond Wu and a fellow short stacked player were all in with Wu holding the slight chip advantage.

The board ran out [7h][3d][4c][6h][Qc] to see Wu eliminate his opponent and collect some much-needed chips for Day 2.
9:10 p.m: Five more hands
The Tournament Director has just announced that there will be five more hands for the night.
9:00 p.m: Some stacks emerging
Three players have been spotted that have had their chip stacks on the increase this level.
Shashank Rathi is currently sitting with roughly 82,000 while Naoya Ozawa holds 65,000. Leading the female charge is Manami Haymizu who holds an impressive 56,000 also.
8:45 p.m: Ewing exits, Mariakis on the climb
With play kicking off, we soon noticed that Australian player David "u_dirty_dog" Ewing's seen was occupied by someone other then Ewing. Without him being in the room anywhere, it is safe to assume that the regular Macau visitor has been eliminated from the tournament.
On an adjacent table we spotted Michael Mariakis raking in a pot. Once he had stacked all his chips neatly, we counted that he had pushed his stack up to the 80,000-chip mark after being losing the majority of his chips in the last level to chip leader Chao Li.
8:40 p.m: Play resumes
The players are now back in the seats following their final break for the evening and are ready to contest the next one and a half levels (sixty minutes of play) before play is wrapped up for the night.
Late in the level we saw Chao Li catapult further out in front with a straight against two-pair, and as we have a quick look around the room, he seems to be the clear leader by nearly 50,000.
Many notables are on track to make Day 2, but we'll all be watching the short-stacked Raymond Wu who has ridden somewhat of a roller coaster today as roughly 86 players remain in the Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon Main Event.
